On the edge of the river Isar, lays the beautiful
green city of Munich, which started out as a small town enclosed
within a wall and then expanded beyond it. The high tech capital
with many European headquarters situated here, Munich is much more
than just the venue for the October fest.
It is a super modern exhibition center for both film and fashion
and has the premier density of publishing houses than any where
in the world apart from New York. BMW, MAN (truck maker) and MTU
(aeroengine maker) are also based in Munich, as are countless other
firms.
Rich in culture, Munich is an active city too with its orchestras,
ensembles, opera houses, and theatre. All the major music artists
make sure they pass through Munich on their European tours. Another
interesting fact is the city serves German beer, which is said to
be the best in the world. Bavaria has a vast number of breweries,
large and small and it is worth trying as many different types as
possible. The health drink is amazingly.
While you are in Munich, you can flick through any of Munich's
events magazines to get a sense of what is going where and if you
are here for a longer stay, there are lots to do.
You can lose yourself for days in the Deutsches Museum or in any
of a number of the other museums and galleries and there are countless
beautiful churches and other buildings to explore. |
